Dress Code

NEWPORT GOLF CLUB

GENTLEMEN’S DRESS CODE
(with effect from 1st January 2010)

As a general rule, smart dress is expected both on the Course as well as in and around the Clubhouse. Denim clothing is not permissible at any time.

HEADWEAR
o No headwear of any description is permissible in any area of the Clubhouse.

SHIRTS
o Shirts must at all times be tucked into trousers or shorts.
o All shirts must have a collar, polo neck or turtle neck.
o Football, rugby or other athletic type shirts are not permitted to be worn at any time.

TROUSERS
o Trousers must not be tucked into socks.
o No cargo type patch pockets are permissible.

SHORTS
o Only tailored shorts are allowed and must not have cargo or patch type pockets.
o Shorts must be approximately knee length.
o Suitable shorts are allowed anywhere other than in the Dining Area.

SOCKS
o Visible socks must be worn at all times.

SHOES
o Only golf shoes may be worn on the course, but they are not permitted in the Bar, Lounge or Dining area.
o Trainers are not permissible anywhere.
o Only shoes are allowed to be worn in the Bar, Lounge and Dining area.

PROTECTIVE OUTDOOR CLOTHING
o This is not permitted in the Bar, Lounge or Dining area.

GENERAL
o After 18:30 a jacket and tie should be worn in the Dining Room.
o A screened area is provided in the Dining Room for those wishing to dine less formally.
o Where necessary and in order to avoid embarrassment, the Club may be able to provide a variety of clothing/shoes for use by visitors.

Ladies Course Dress Code

As a general rule, the wearing of jeans, leggings, cycling/athletic shorts and tracksuits is not permitted.  Proper golf shoes must be worn on the course and the putting green.
