Newport Golf Club - General Course Etiquette

Bunkers : Take care to rake the sand after playing out of a bunker, both from where the shot was played and footprints in and out of the sand. Leave rakes in the bunker

Pitch Marks : Repair your Pitch Marks at ALL times, preferably with a pitch mark repairer, on each green and where applicable. Also repair any other pitch marks found. An un-repaired pitch mark can take months to recover. How Best to Repair Pitch Marks

Divots : Repair divots on all parts of the course, ie. Tees, Fairways, Semi Rough and Rough. The condition of the course will deteriorate if divots are not replaced. On par three's please use sand and seed mixture from the boxes provided

White Lines : At all times, obey directions for white lines, hoops, ropes ... etc. White lines are painted and hoops and ropes are positioned for the protection of the course

Buggies / Trolleys : Buggies and Trolleys are Not to be taken on to the tees or around the green fringes, and never, between the greenside bunkers and the green itself. Additional instructions for Caddy Cars are posted in the cars themselves. These guidelines must be followed at all times.

Slow Play : Remember if you have lost your position of play ie. if there is a clear hole in front of your game, you MUST allow the game behind through if they are waiting to play their shots. As a rule, a medal round should not take longer than 3hrs and 30mins to complete.

Course Courtesy : Those playing in Club Matches or Competitions have priority on the course. If however, they are losing ground or holding up non-competitors, they should call the non-competitors through. Single players have no standing on the course. Players should not play more than one ball on the course, unless it is a provisional ball.

Mobile Phones : Mobile Phones are not to be used on the course or in the Clubhouse, except in emergency. If it is necessary to use a mobile phone, this is restricted to the car park only.
