Natural History Group

A Natural History Group (NHG) has recently been established at NGC with the full backing and support of the Greens and General Committees.

The Purpose and Objectives of the Group are as follows:

Formally recognize the diverse range and quality of the flora and fauna of the course and to harness the current interest and energy within the club for the natural history and biodiversity interests of the course.

Provide a framework for all matters and issues relating to the natural history and biodiversity interests of the course. This will include recording and maintaining the range of both plant and animal interests, keeping and collating records and managing relationships with other relevant individuals and organizations and monitoring an important part of the history of the Club.

Demonstrate the Club’s interest and commitment to conservation, biodiversity and sustainability. With respect to the Club’s responsibilities and activities in relation to nature conservation and biodiversity matters, it is hoped that the work of the group, and particularly the records, will be useful in relationships and dealings with relevant agencies, including the local authority and Natural Resources Wales (comprising the former Environment Agency, Forestry Commission and the Countryside Council for Wales).

Proviso There is no intention for the Group to interfere in any way with the day to day and year on year running of the Golf Club and Course. In fact the opposite is true and the Group is anxious to work with and support the Greens Committee and in particular the Head Green Keeper and his staff.
